Do you need a website? Frankly, no you don't need one to make money online, however, if you want to move beyond merely being a member of others programs and somewhat guiding your own destiny, it's essential.
It's really, honestly, not that hard to create a website. Aside from there being about a billion self-help books on the topic, readily available at most libraries or bookstores. There are a few dozen online help sites, aimed at total beginners and the free webspace provided by almost all ISPs usually has a website creating program associated with it. My suggestion is to start with free space and decide how much you like it, before going the whole hog; registering a domain name, contracting with a web host, etc., because that's going to cost you money.
As for content, that's entirely up to you, but please, please, do not emulate so many unimaginative others and
create a page of banners/links to your programs. That's so old hat and going to be almost entirely ignored
by every one, not least those companies that might be interested in paying you to host their banners.
